What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is the health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system, how they afect the nervous system and health in general. Chiropractors work with the spinal column and the nervous system to correct biomechanical problems to improve health overall.
Doctors of Chiropractic – often referred to as chiropractors or chiropractic physicians – practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.
Due to life’s stresses, our bodies become tense and out of balance. This can result in many symptoms including but not limited to: vertigo, dizziness, headaches, numbness and tingling in the arms or hands, pain in the arms, sore back, problems breathing, low back pain, sciatic pain, numbness and tingling in the legs and feet... etc.
Stress in our lives may include but is not limited to: a car accident, a fall, bad posture, lifting heavy weight, smoking, drinking, eating bad foods, being exposed to chemicals from skin care products, chemicals in cleaning products, pollution in the air, problems with family or work, mental stress... etc.
The most common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic is known as a chiropractic adjustment. The purpose of joint manipulation is to restore joint mobility of hypomobile joints which generates a neurological change to restore health.
Benefits of
Chiropractic
The International Chiropractic Association states that Chiropractic is concerned with the preservation and restoration of health, and focuses particular attention on the subluxation, which was redefined in the ICA Constitution in 2006 as: A subluxation is any alteration of the biomechanical and physiological dynamics of contiguous spinal structures which can cause neuronal disturbances. A subluxation is evaluated, diagnosed, and managed through the use of chiropractic procedures based on the best available rational and empirical evidence.
Chiropractic improves quality of life and promotes well-being.
